It said at the start of the instructable that if you are a wimp then don't read on...

When your pet mouse dies, you could make a mouse mouse from it in remembrance of your love for your pet mouse.

While this is a great instructable, and a great idea, I don't think I could do this, just because I would be touching a dead mouse every day. In theory, this is the greatest idea ever, but if I had one, my email would never get checked.

It's oddly cute, though.

Did you ever get it back, or find it?

A tad gross, but a novel idea. It would probably be better to just buy a whole bunch of fake mice/kangeroos/favouriteendangeredspeciesstuffedtoyhere, and use them to cover the hardware. Less chance of fluid.. damage, and you can replace the cover when it's worn out. That said, i can see taxidermy freaks loving this.

Very original, IMHO

I like this instructable :)

It shows what you can do with mice other than feed to snakes, kill, experiment on, etc.

Theres trillions of these things...

And piss off PETA.

macabre, yet ingenious. until i can muster up the nerve to touch a dead mouse's pelt everyday, i don't think i'll be able to make this. xD maybe i'll start with a mouse plushie first.

my gawd what a tempest in a teapot, i keep snakes as pets, and what do i feed them? mice, and what do they NOT digest? the stuff the mouse mouse is made of. I don't have much sympathy for mice anyway, all the touchy-feely talk about animals "mourning their dead" what a joke. i get my mice from a fancy mouse breeder (only the best for my snake) and there have been numerous times when i have come home only to find that one of the mice has killed and eaten another one. maybe he felt bad about it afterwards, but not for long. with a gut full of protein he is snake chow that instant. and yes the mice are not over crowded, they are fed and watered well, males are kept separate from each other and other males unless i am trying to mate a pair. so go slip into a nice pair of birkenstocks and. walk. away.

I don't think it's very nice to openly and proudly disrepect the corpse of any creature like this infact i think it takes a real sick individual to do something like this

Look at what people have done with animals throughout the years. Ever seen footage from modern slaughterhouses? How about mink coats? Elephant foot wastebaskets? Dog fighting? All this is going on, and you feel the best place to vent your disgust is on instructables, where a guy is making a mouse mouse? Get real. Go find something better to do with your time.

Disrespect is a human trait. We bury our dead out of 'Respect" and superstition, animals do not have these emotions. The mouse is dead, what would you have done with it? Bury and forget? Or put it to good use? Or in this case, hilarious use?
Apr 25, 2008. 6:13 PMDeadpunksays:
1. This is not funny it's sick and disturbing. 2. Animals also mourn death there have been many recorded cases of elephants mourning bones of other dead elephants. 3. So human beings are the only creatures capable of respect? well true respect is do all living/once living things

You are one of those people who wont donate your organs/body to sick people.
This is a practical idea.
Aug 25, 2008. 7:09 PMTarantuladysays:
I don't care what gets done with my body when I die. I know that the people that matter to me will probably want to do something to honor me, but it's only to console themselves. Dead bodies don't have feelings.
I think this is a great fun project, but that's me. If you don't like it, there's an obvious warning before the instructions occur. I guess you wanted to be disturbed? If so, you should say something nice to the author, like, "Thank you" :)
Humans are animals, but humanizing animals is sort of ignorant. Not all animals mourn their dead. Most of them eat them or bury them, actually. Yes, elephants are social and mourn their dead, putting the bones into "graveyard" areas afterwards, but what does that have to do with mice?
As a person who has spent years working with animals and instructing in their proper care, educating people on why they shouldn't meddle with wild animals, etc.. I just thought I would mention the "humanizing" bit constructively, because our cause can't be furthered if we spread misinformation. Hope you understand.

I figure once I'm dead, I have no use for my body. Might as well donate the organs.

Do you disagree with taxidermy in general?
Apr 29, 2008. 6:30 AMcodykagesays:
i personally dont disagree with taxidermy in general but i still think using an actual mouse body is distasteful.

maybe try a rubber mouse. that would still be funny as a mouse mouse, just not the reality of an actual stuffed mouse.

I can read.

I'm not offended or anything like that by this instructable, i just think it is distasteful to use an actual mouse body.

So, maybe next time try a fake mouse because you will still get laughs from it because it's the same concept, it just isn't a real mouse body.

Do you understand what i mean?
May 1, 2008. 1:42 PMHerrozerrosays:
I understand what you mean, but it could be compaired to filling one of those fake deer with hamburger, have someone hide it and go hunting for it. Sure you get meat in the end, but its not hunting.

Ah, excuse me. I was thinking that I was still speaking with DeadPunk.
Apr 29, 2008. 2:42 PMDeadpunksays:
I also can read but as a human being have the right to voice my opinion especially when I find something to be extremely offensive and just plain wrong. Do you just stand by when some one says an openly racist remark? No if your a decent human being you call them out on it and tell that’s messed up. You don't just go oh well that was totally uncalled for and unacceptable but what ever I’m just going to ignore that and pretend nothing happened because I have no spine and don't stand up for my beliefs. That being said I have problems with alot of taxidermy but then again some I understand .For instance an exotic or endangered animal dies of NATURAL causes and it's taxidermied to be put in a museum or something along those lines that's meant for education I can understand that. In truth I would prefer it to be buried and decompose as it would naturally. But in cases of taxidermy such as mounted heads from trophy hunting or in this extreme case of a real mouse corpse being used in as a computer mouse. These examples of taxidermy and others of such nature are highly disrespectful and plain disgusting.
