The world’s largest hotpot feast took place at southwest China’s Chingqing Chongqing last night. It is also the birthplace of the hot and spicy stockpot of mutton, beef and vegetables. Up to 100,000 diners were estimated to have showed up.

There are total of sixty-four restaurants hosting the feast with more than 1,000 tables being set up. The massive hotpot as pictured is specially prepared by Qilong Restaurant for the event. It is 6 to 8 meters wide with room for 152 diners. Thus setting a new Guinness World Record.

The feast started at 7pm and continued until after midnight. For US $1.9 per person, the diners enjoyed five meat dishes, five vegetable dishes, beer or soft drinks.
